Central air and heating were installed as well, along with flooring, water heaters and new windows.
The exterior received new landscaping, and sustainability and accessibility upgrades were made throughout the common areas. This brought Voorhis Village up to current green and accessibility standards. Though the property was at risk of going to market-rate rents, this joint venture replaced the expiring U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HAP contracts with bonds, 4% tax credits and a long-term Section 8 contract.
