Jamboree Receives $50,000 Market Impact Grant From U.S. Bank

Jamboree Awarded US Bank Market Impact Grant for Green Initiatives

Jamboree Housing Corporation announced that it has received a $50,000 grant from U.S. Bank Foundation. A leading affordable housing developer, Jamboree is one of 20 nonprofit organizations across the country – and one of six nonprofits in California – to receive this award as part of the $1 million Market Impact Grant program to invest in green energy initiatives in low- to moderate-income communities with an emphasis on supporting people of color and/or women.

Funding will help low- and moderate-income people who are struggling due to a lack of affordable housing while addressing broader needs related to community revitalization, enabling them to access the resources they need to lay a foundation for a stable financial life, and in turn, drive growth in the Orange County community. For Jamboree, The Green Energy Campaign will help fund new energy-efficient lighting and appliances as well as environmental education programs about energy efficiency, non-gas cooking, electric vehicles, and organic recycling opportunities for more than 3,300 families at Jamboree properties throughout Orange County.

A long-term partner since 1999, U.S. Bank has helped finance 28 Jamboree communities throughout California – many of which have received Leadership in Energy and Environmental and Design (LEED) for Homes Platinum, Gold, or Silver Ratings. “We value our 23-year partnership with U.S. Bank and the funding support that has allowed Jamboree to provide affordable housing and services that transform lives and strengthen communities,” said Laura Archuleta, Jamboree president. U.S. Bank also gives back with staff who volunteer on Jamboree’s advisory board – a collaborative that actively supports and promotes Jamboree and advocates for its mission – where members play key roles in several committees and attend community events.

“Our shared commitment to follow best practices in building green lowers energy consumption and provides a cost-saving benefit to and promotes the health of Jamboree residents,” continued Archuleta, underscoring that the expansion of the nonprofit’s educational efforts on sustainability with residents will encourage them to look for other ways to conserve water and electricity and participate in organic recycling programs. “We are grateful for the broad range of support that U.S. Bank provides to Jamboree over these many years.”

U.S. Bank is committed to moving beyond philanthropy to engage the human and financial resources of the bank in their work to help close the racial wealth gap. Their philanthropic and community investments are focused specifically on breaking down systemic barriers to racial and economic equity for women, people of color and low- and moderate-income communities, within their enterprise-wide giving platform, Community Possible.

“We are excited about these projects, which include solar energy, eco-friendly housing, and renewable energy workforce opportunities, and the impact they will have on our California communities,” said Rockette Ewell, vice president and community affairs manager in the Inland Empire, Orange County, and San Diego.
